Dive into a hands-on, educational experience as we work together to protect and preserve Filoli’s natural habitats! Join us in exploring Filoli’s Natural Lands as we search for invasive species and contribute our findings to the global Citizen Science effort through iNaturalist.
Led by Filoli staff and a Citizen Science expert, this program will deepen your understanding of the crucial role Citizen Science plays in environmental conservation. Learn how to identify and report invasive species, while connecting with like-minded individuals passionate about protecting our ecosystems.

Stories in Bloom: Bonsai and Beyond: The Life and Art of Dennis Makishima

Be inspired by Dennis Makishima, a third-generation Japanese-American, Vietnam veteran, and acclaimed bonsai master, as he reflects on his life and the ancient art of bonsai. Dennis’ journey spans from his apprenticeship in Toyohashi, Japan, under Bonsai Master Yasuo Mitsuya to creating the Merritt College Aesthetic Tree Pruning Program and leading the Golden State Bonsai Federation as President.
During this captivating talk, Dennis will share valuable insights into the artistry and philosophy behind bonsai, followed by a book signing of his new release, Mr. Omoshiroi—a must-have for bonsai enthusiasts and fans alike.

Explore Filoli’s beloved trails and trails only accessible with a guide as you venture on a two-mile guided hike. Come for Filoli’s Summer Nights and take a trip into the natural lands of the property. Experience sunset trickling through the trees and animals preparing for their evening routines.

Hikes traverse uneven terrain including steps and trails are considered moderate difficulty through Filoli’s natural lands.
We highly recommend closed-toed shoes, layers, and a hat. The hike is predominantly under cover of shade; however, there are sunny spots. We also recommend bringing a full water bottle to carry with you.
Food and beverages will be available for sale before the hike and not afterwards. Please plan to arrive in advance of your hike if you’d like to purchase food onsite at Filoli from the Cafe or Food trucks. Once the Hike returns, all food options will be closed.

Parent’s Night Out
Date: July 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st
Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm
Have you ever dreamt of a time when your kids can play and explore Filoli while you wander the Garden and grab a drink or lunch with a partner or friend? It’s happening! Led by the engaging staff of the Riekes Center, your little adventurer will explore the Garden and Trails while hunting for treasure, eating popsicles, playing games, and getting crafty.
This program is for elementary school-aged children. Children’s tickets for the 90 minute experience are included. Adults should purchase general admission tickets to Filoli. Adults must stay onsite at Filoli during the program.
By purchasing this ticket I recognize this program includes, but is not limited to, certain physical activities, which may pose some risk of injury. I agree to indemnify, hold harmless and defend Filoli, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Riekes Center, any of their employees and/or agents with respect to any and all claims, costs and liabilities arising from or related to my use of Filoli property or participation in any programs. I will further agree to indemnify, hold harmless and defend Filoli, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Riekes Center, their employees and/or agents with respect to any and all claims, costs, and liabilities arising from or related to any and all claims brought from my child(ren)’s use of Filoli property and/or participation in Filoli programs to the extent of the named organizations' liability under general law. The LAW of the State of California will govern the interpretation and enforcement of this Agreement. If any provision or portion of this Agreement is determined to be illegal or unenforceable in any respect, such determination will not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provisions, each of which will be deemed to be independent and severable. This Agreement will be effective immediately upon use of this program ticket.

Celebrate Pride with a handmade flower crown! Drop by the garden house to design your own unique crown and express your creativity and individuality with a variety of beautiful blooms. Take home a personal keepsake to remember the day!
All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Learn about the Trolls exhibit from the sculpture artist himself, Thomas Dambo. Under the natural setting of the Redwood trees, hear about Thomas’s journey and artistic expression of upcycling via the large, whimsical creatures sitting on Filoli’s property this summer.
Plan to arrive early to enjoy the idyllic walk out to Red’s Barn and visit the friendly Trolls via a self-guided experience on your way.
Wellness Wednesday: Family Sound Bath

Join us for a Family Sound Bath during Wellness Wednesdays on summer afternoons in Filoli’s Natural Lands. This unique, family-friendly experience blends the soothing sounds of nature, joyful play, and immersive sound bath vibrations. Kids are free to move, explore, and be themselves as gentle tones create a calming yet lively atmosphere. Embrace a moment of relaxation surrounded by laughter, rustling leaves, and harmonious sound waves.This program does not include admission, please purchase admission here.

Every Wednesday and Thursday evening, slow down and enjoy the beauty of Filoli as the sun sets behind the mountains. Wander through the gardens, breathe in the fresh scent of roses, and soak in the serene atmosphere.
Meet friends for a drink at Filoli's bar or unwind on the lawn with your family while acoustic tunes fill the air. Satisfy your cravings with delicious food from local food trucks, and enjoy the relaxed vibe of a perfect summer evening.
For a more active experience, hike the trail at twilight, stop by a pop-up learning station to chat with a Horticulturist, or join one of our free Garden talks with staff. Every Summer Night brings something new to explore and discover at Filoli!
