Service Learning: Summer Prep

June 17, 19 & 21

Join Filoli’s Horticulture team in the Garden or Orchard to mulch, weed, and prune, then enjoy a learning break on garden and tree care.

Experience may include:

• Orchard maintenance.

• Mulching and wedding alongside Filoli’s Horticulture team

• Learning break on summer garden care.

• Free participation with complimentary Filoli admission on the program day

• Tools will be provided

• Closed-toed shoes are required for all outdoor programs. We recommend bringing gardening or work gloves, sun protection, and water, as well as wearing long sleeves and pants

Service Learning: Orchard Care

Spend the morning in the Gentleman’s Orchard as you help Filoli’s Horticulture team mulch, weed, and prune the historic fruit trees to prepare for a summer harvest. During the learning break, hear about the history of the Orchard and how to care for fruit trees.

Cost: Free; Participants receive free admission to Filoli on the day of the program.

Here’s how it works:

Check in, grab your name tag and your first drink, and let the night open up around you. There’s no schedule, no awkward pairings—just a few loose, playful ways to cross paths with someone new.

Maybe you lock eyes while making flower crowns. Maybe a teasing glance turns into a competitive round of cornhole. Maybe a laugh turns into something more.

Hikes traverse uneven terrain including steps and trails are considered moderate difficulty through Filoli’s natural lands. 

We highly recommend closed-toed shoes, layers, and a hat. The hike is predominantly under cover of shade; however, there are sunny spots. We also recommend bringing a full water bottle to carry with you. 

Food and beverages will be available for sale before the hike and not afterwards. Please plan to arrive in advance of your hike if you’d like to purchase food onsite at Filoli from the Cafe or Food trucks. Once the Hike returns, all food options will be closed.

House Curatorial Tour

a) Cancellation 30+ days prior to the event date: Deposit can be used as a credit toward a future event within 12 months of cancellation.

Parent’s Night Out

Date: July 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st

Have you ever dreamt of a time when your kids can play and explore Filoli while you wander the Garden and grab a drink or lunch with a partner or friend? It’s happening! Led by the engaging staff of the Riekes Center, your little adventurer will explore the Garden and Trails while hunting for treasure, eating popsicles, playing games, and getting crafty. 

This program is for elementary school-aged children. Children’s tickets for the 90 minute experience are included. Adults should purchase general admission tickets to Filoli. Adults must stay onsite at Filoli during the program.

Minimum Age: 5 years old

By purchasing this ticket I recognize this program includes, but is not limited to, certain physical activities, which may pose some risk of injury.
